acquired a male pup from Michael McPherson in Ardmore, Oklahoma. This pup,
Everclear or EC, is the foundation and heritage of what I am trying to develop in what I
call my C-line. Everclear and his brothers and sisters are known for their intelligence,
teachibility, and ability to be excellent pets and/or working dogs. The late Nelson Bond
had several excellent hog dogs from the same litter as Everclear. Everclear was really
more of a pet than a working dog. He is known for his intelligence, temperament, and
way with young children. Upon graduation from college, Everclear moved to Aledo,
Texas with my mother, where he still resides today. All requests for his return have
been denied!
In 2004, Everclear’s dam passed away, she was a full blood blue leopard and raised
many great litters. In the later part of 2005, ole Joe, Everclear's sire passed, he was 1/2
Catahoula and 1/2 Rhodesian Ridgeback. Ole Joe was a fierce and very effective hog
dog. He could singlehandedly bay and catch his own boar. Both of these great dogs,
Everclear's parents, will be greatly missed. The loss of these two dogs prompted me to
accelerate my research on the Catahoula. My primary purpose was to preserve
Everclear’s lineage. It was this research that sparked my desire to raise registered
Catahoulas. Nevertheless, I still wanted to preserve what I call the C-line.
After a significant amount of research was done, I purchased two female Catahoulas,
CC and Daisy. CC was purchased locally from a reputable hog hunter, she is a non-
registered Catahoula and the foundation dam of the C-line. In accordance with NALC
guidelines she and her lineage will only be bred to non-registered Catahoulas. Daisy
was purchased from Oak Hill Catahoulas in Farmerville, Louisiana. She is the
foundation dam of Nota Bene’s registered line of Catahoulas.
